Jupp Linssen (born 1957 in Kempen, Germany) is a German artist known for his innovative approach to painting, combining traditional techniques with unconventional materials.

His work counters the soulless artifacts of mass production and technical perfection, reflecting what our world of fully intact things lacks—the fractures, coincidences, and inconsistencies that we normally hide or ignore.

Linssen grew up in Wachtendonk and studied art at the RWTH Aachen from 1980 to 1986 under the tutelage of Professor Joachim Bandau. In 1987, he received the Förderpreis Bildende Kunst from the city of Aachen, which marked the beginning of a series of international solo and group exhibitions.

His work has been exhibited at the Neuer Aachener Kunstverein, Kunstverein Heinsberg, and the Skanska Konstmuseum Pictura in Lund, Sweden, among others. In addition, his work is included in collections such as the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen and the Ludwig Forum für Internationale Kunst in Aachen.

In his artistic practice, Linssen integrates materials such as zinc foil, wood and oxidized iron into his paintings, deliberately eliminating the aesthetic boundaries between found objects and created works of art. The layered paint creates a cracked surface, in which the materials are not experienced as foreign, but as integral parts of the whole.
Gallerie Reitz Cologne

In addition to his artistic work, Linssen taught painting at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf from 2003 to 2005. He is a member of the Deutsche Künstlerbund and divides his time between his homes in Aachen and the Netherlands, where he continues to experiment with the boundaries of painting and material.
