About the artist
Victor Bauffe (1849, Bergen/Mons, Belgium – 1921, The Hague) was a Dutch painter of Belgian descent. He was educated at the Koninklijke Academie van Beelden Kunsten (Royal Academy of Fine Arts), The Hague. He also was taught to paint by his friend Hendrik Johannes Weissenbruch. Bauffe was a famous Hague landscapist (oil paintings and aquarelles). In 1900, he made a study tour to Barbizon. He was active in Kortenhoef, Renkum, Voorschoten, etc. A number of his works are in the Haags Gemeentemuseum; Frans Halsmuseum, Haarlem; Noortbrabants Museum, Den Bosch; Montreal Museum, Canada.
