Monique Kampkuiper is a Dutch artist specializing in glass and ceramics, with a particular focus on material research and artisanal innovation. She is best known for her distinctive “Woven Glass” technique, in which glass is approached not merely as a solid or cast material, but as something that appears capable of being interwoven, almost like textiles.

In her work, Kampkuiper explores the boundaries of glass as a medium. By manipulating the material into fine structures and layers, she creates objects that appear simultaneously fragile and powerful. Transparency, light transmission, and texture play a central role in this: her works change subtly depending on the angle of light and the viewer's position.

Additionally, she works with the pâte de verre technique, a labor-intensive process in which glass granules are melted into a solid form within a mold. This method enables her to achieve a rich, grainy surface and soft color transitions, giving her work an almost tactile quality. The combination of this technique with her interest in structure and layering results in objects that are both sculptural and sensory.

Kampkuiper's oeuvre operates at the intersection of art and craft, where traditional techniques are reinvented and translated into a contemporary visual language. Her work invites close observation and experience, demonstrating how an apparently hard and fragile material can transform into something that feels light, rhythmic, and almost organic.
