Christy Keeney (Donegal, Ireland, 1958) is an internationally renowned artist whose expressive ceramic sculptures blur the lines between sculpture and painting. His three-dimensional clay paintings are among his most distinctive works: figurative portraits that are simultaneously open, fragmentary, and intensely human.

Keeney trained at the Royal College of Art in London, where he developed his distinctive visual language. He is known for his working method, in which he carves, slices away, distorts, and reassembles slabs of clay, as if literally sculpting human emotions from the material. The resulting sculptures are raw and layered, with subtle textures and subdued fields of color that give depth and character to each face.

The themes in his work revolve around identity, vulnerability, and the unpredictability of the human mind. Keeney's figures appear simultaneously transparent and solidly present, as if on the verge of appearance and disappearance.

His work is exhibited worldwide and is included in private and museum collections in Europe, the United States, and Asia. With his bold combination of materials, formal experimentation, and emotional directness, Christy Keeney is considered one of the most influential ceramic artists of his generation.
