Nugzar Kakhiani (born in 1952 in Poti, Georgia) is a contemporary Georgian artist known for his colorful and poetic paintings, in which reality and imagination seamlessly merge. His work is characterized by vibrant hues, soft contours, and a dreamy, almost fairytale-like atmosphere that invites the viewer into a world full of symbolism and emotion.

Kakhiani grew up in the coastal town of Poti, where the proximity of the Black Sea and the rich Georgian culture have had a lasting influence on his work. These influences are reflected in his use of color and in the often narrative, almost mythical scenes he paints. Figures, animals, and landscapes appear in his compositions in a way that feels both familiar and alienating.

In his artistic practice, Kakhiani combines elements of figurative art with a free, almost naive visual language. His paintings evoke associations with folk tales and personal memories, without committing to a single clear interpretation. It is precisely this openness that gives his work a universal appeal. Over the years, Kakhiani has developed a recognizable style of his own in which color, atmosphere, and imagination take center stage. His oeuvre is appreciated for the way it bridges tradition and fantasy, and the everyday and the dreamlike.
