Daniel Pessel, born in 1965, is a versatile artist with a rich career spanning 25 years as a draftsman and illustrator in Aix-en-Provence. His incessant urge to create has led to a diverse artistic path, ranging from drawing and painting to sculpting in wood and stone, and finally working with metal.
Pessel began his exploration of mechanics by preparing old motorcycles. He later discovered the enormous potential of recycling old objects, which triggered a flood of new ideas. His current sculptures emerge from a mechanical universe in which sewing machines are combined with noble materials such as steel, leather and wood.
These transformed objects form imposing machines, controlled by charismatic figures. Whether dreamers, idealists, enthusiasts or adventurers, each viewer can give his own interpretation to these creations.
