In the realm where art intertwines with horology, a mesmerizing creation awaits discovery – the “Rolex Daytona Blue Copper.” Crafted by the visionary artist James Chieuw, this lenticular artwork transcends the confines of traditional perception, offering a dynamic experience that captivates the imagination.

At first glance, it presents itself as the iconic Rolex Daytona, a symbol of precision engineering and timeless elegance. However, upon closer inspection, the true essence of this masterpiece is unveiled. Through the ingenious use of lenticular technology, the Rolex Daytona Paul Newman transforms into a canvas of dual imagery, revealing two distinct scenes that enchant the viewer from different angles.

From one perspective, the racing track comes to life, with sleek sports cars roaring past in a blur of speed and adrenaline. The dial of the watch becomes a portal to the golden era of motorsport, evoking the spirit of competition and the thrill of the chase.

Yet, as the viewer shifts their gaze, a metamorphosis occurs, and the scene transforms into a timeless moment of tranquility. Here, amidst the verdant beauty of nature, the Daytona Blue Copper becomes a companion on a journey through serene landscapes and peaceful vistas, inviting contemplation and introspection.

Through his artistry, James Chieuw invites us to explore the duality of human experience – the juxtaposition of action and contemplation, of excitement and serenity. Like the hands of a watch ticking ceaselessly forward, the Rolex Daytona Blue Copper embodies the passage of time itself, reminding us of the fleeting nature of life and the importance of savoring each moment.

Chieuw’s mastery lies not only in his technical skill but also in his ability to evoke emotion and provoke thought. With each glance, the Rolex Daytona Blue Copper invites us to embark on a journey of self-discovery, where the boundaries between past and present, action and reflection, blur into a seamless continuum.

In the hands of James Chieuw, this exquisite artwork transcends its material form, becoming a testament to the enduring allure of craftsmanship and the boundless potential of human creativity. The Rolex Daytona Paul Newman is more than just a watch; it is a symbol of aspiration, adventure, and the timeless pursuit of excellence that defines the human spirit.
  • About the artist

For artist James Chiew, nothing happens by chance. All his creative expressions stem from his enormous urge for experiment and innovation. In his versatile mixed media works, the originally Singaporean autodidact always pushes the boundaries. This is reflected in his ideas and choice of materials. In an idiosyncratic and original way, James combines (photographic) images and objects with different materials, such as wood, metal, acrylic paint, epoxy and everything else that is possible.

In doing so, he mixes modern graphic techniques with classical methods and analogous materials.
James Chiew: “The digital age offers unprecedented opportunities. I like to experiment, because I'm always looking for new angles. The challenge for me is to try to achieve the impossible. I want to make things more beautiful. That often starts in my immediate environment.

Everyday objects at home and in the studio I try to show in a special way. By pimping objects, I make people look at them differently and think about them.” His works of art always have a lot of depth: literally and figuratively you discover several layers in his works.

Photography has only been the basis for James Chiew for a few years and proved to be the start of his new period. The camera and photo material offer him unprecedented perspectives, which immediately resulted in his most recognized work to date: Beatrix 3-D. In 2013, he was invited to the exhibition 'Image of Beatrix' in Paleis Het Loo and Paleis Soestdijk in honor of Beatrix's 75th birthday.
