- About the artist
Wijnand Warendorf is honoring the Dutch tradition of still life painting. He finds his inspiration in the experiences of everyday life. From toys to candy, from fish to the human body, his subjects are very divers. Warendorf calls his paintings realistic and down to earth. For him craftsmanship plays an important part in his work, this is reflected in the use of different techniques and can be recognized by his traditional approach.
Compositions by Warendorf are set up very carefully; even millimetres can make or break the whole setting. The unexpected choice of subjects in combination with the use of colour and composition creates a pervasive atmosphere.
