Starting out as a 'painter', Bosman has further explored and expanded the possibilities of her painting in recent decades. She increasingly stepped outside the boundaries of the 2-dimensional. It started with painting cardboard boxes of various sizes. These grew into installations or small intimate objects were created, sometimes with text.
First, existing (packaging) boxes were painted, but increasingly she also made the boxes herself, from scraps of cardboard and paper. The box shapes were made 'open', which led to more surfaces, more possibilities.
And 'frame works' were created, a kind of natural counterparts to the boxes in form. Bosman likes to work with various materials such as paper, textiles, rope and wool and with all kinds of paint. The results appear organic and tactile, often somewhat raw and lived-in.
They are rhythms of shape and color, poetic and sometimes humorous, with an almost meditative effect. The fascination with color and especially with materials is evident in all the work.
Sometimes the use of materials completely replaces the use of paint, as in the recent compositions of 'blocks', which consist entirely of recycled paper.
