From left to right we see the church of Santa Maria Segreta,the Sforza Castle, the Arco delle Pace, the Arena Civica, the State Archives, the Piazza Mercanti, the Porta Garibaldi, the Brera Astronomical Observatory, the Milan-Monza Railway, the Porta Nuova where today there is the business district, the Scala opera house, Palazzo Marino which used to be the customs office on the piazza della Scala, the former Coperto dei Figini, the Jesuit San Fedele church, the Porta Venezia (here referred to as Porta Orientale), the Milan Cathedral on the Piazza del Duomo, church of the Santa Maria della Passione, the Milan-Venice Railway, the column next to Porta Tosa (demolished in 1881),the Royal Palace, the church of San Gottardo, the Basilica di Santo Stefano Maggiore, the church of Sant'Antonio Abate, the church of San Barnaba, the church of Santa Caterina alla Chiusa (demolished in 1821), the Ospedale Maggiore [Policlinico of Milan], the Porta Romana and lastly on the very right, the church of San Nazaro Maggiore. The view is dedicated to Princess Elisabeth of Savoy, Vicereine of the Kingdom of Lombardy-Venetia. Antonio Vallardi is an Italian publishing house based in Milan. Founded in 1750 by Francesco Cesare Vallardi, the firm still operates today. In the mid 19th century, the company published artistic, geographic, scientific and religious works , as well as city views, including panoramas of Italian cities such as Milan, Venice and Florence.
