From March 24 to April 14, the Amsterdam gallery Villa del Arte presents work by Samuel Dejong, an autodidact with a background in surgery, pathology and biomedical technology. Under the title The Persistence of Time the artist returns to his source of inspiration: nature.

In four series he searches for a balance between symbolism and abstraction: Golden Hour, Blue Hour, Midnight Hour and Beyond Event Horizon. The result: a very varied exhibition, partly due to the surprising techniques of the artist, the textures, the play of light and dark and the use of pure pigments, which results in deep, saturated colours.

The artworks of large, medium and small format are displayed in the beautiful spaces of the Villa del Arte gallery in the Spiegelkwartier in Amsterdam, within walking distance of the Rijksmuseum.
