    The painter Jan Voerman senior belonged to the group of 19th century artists called the 'Amsterdam impressionists'. His paintings, his watercolours in particular, are known for their sensitive atmosphere. This watercolour (signed lower right) is a good example of his widely acknowledged talent. Jan Voerman has his own museum in Hattum (Holland).

    Foi pintor holandês e viveu em Hattem (Gelderland). Ele era casado com Anna Henriette Gezina Verkade (Anna) Verkade, filha de Ericus Gerhardus Verkade, fundador da fábrica Verkade. Seu filho, Jan Voerman Júnior, também se tornou pintor. Voerman Sr é conhecido por suas paisagens do rio IJssel. Em Hattem você pode encontrar o Museu Voerman com uma coleção dos dois pintores.
