Over de kunstenaar

Abraham de Bruyn (c. 1539, Antwerp – 1587, Cologne ?) was a Flemish engraver and it is believed that he also was a goldsmith. He settled in Cologne around the year 1577. He is rated among the Little Masters (German: Kleinmeister, a group of German printmakers in the first half of the 16th century, who specialized in very small prints). He worked entirely with the burin, in a formal style. He made among others prints of portraits, prints of small friezes of hunting and hawking, and he produced more than 100 prints on traditional costumes from all over the world.
