Over de kunstenaar

Harry de Leeuw is a Dutch sculptor, born in 1957. In 1987 he obtained his degree in Arts and Crafts at the Foundation Interstudie, Nijmegen. From 1989 to 1993 he followed a stone carving course, lectured by Peter Dekkers. From 1996 on, he works in Rheden. His work can be placed within the movement of lyrical realism. Architecture and landscape are his most important sources of inspiration. In his construction de Leeuw is guided by Romanesque architecture. An important aspect of his works is the use of the skin of the bronze, as it originates from the process of casting the material. He manipulates the skin in order to determine the colour and structure of the work. De Leeuw casts his works himself, giving him the opportunity to intervene during the process.
