Juul Kraijer is a Dutch visual artist, born in Assen on 31 October 1970. She is specialized in photography, drawing but she also makes sculptures and video art. Kraijer studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rotterdam, graduating in 1994 with a series of large format charcoal drawings. The subjects in Kraijer’s drawings are female nudes and depersonalized. In many works, the human body is combined with animals and nature, including schools of little fish, swarms of moths, parts of animals or mountains. Kraijer works with charcoal and only rarely uses color. Since 2011 Kraijer has also been producing many black and white photographs which are closely related to her drawings. She has had many solo exhibitions in the Netherlands and abroad among others Stedelijk Museum Schiedam, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Gemeentemuseum The Hague, Galleria Monica De Cardenas (Milan), Vadehra Art Gallery, New Delhi (India), The Wapping Project/Bankside, London (UK). Her work in included in various public collections, including Museum of Modern Art, New York (USA), Museum Kunstpalast, Düsseldorf (Germany), Museum Moderner Kunst Vienna (Austria), Fondation Louis Vuitton, Paris (France).
