Frank Letterie (1931, The Hague) is a Dutch sculptor. He took drawing lessons from Kees Bol at the Kunstnijverheidsschool (School of Applied Arts) in Eindhoven. He studied sculpting at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten (State Academy of Fine Arts), Amsterdam, and the Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten (Royal Academy of Fine Arts), The Hague. The materials he uses are bronze and stone. His subject matters are for instance the relation between man and animal, the affection between mother and child, or the intimacy between sheep and lamb. Letterie has been a teacher of sculpting at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague. He also creates pennies. In 1961, he was awarded the Prix de Rome (Golden Penny). Since then he obtained more prizes and many commissions. In 1964, he won the Materiaalprijs (Material Prize) of the Jacob Maris Stichting. In 1977, he was awarded the Hofwijck Prize. Many of his works are included in the collections of Museum Kemperland, Eindhoven; Gemeentemuseum, The Hague; Geld- en Bankmuseum, Utrecht; British Museum, London; Museum Beelden aan Zee, Scheveningen.
