- Over kunstenaarWillem Verbon was a Dutch sculptor. He made multiple bronze sculptures for public space, especially in Rotterdam. His work consists mostly of figurative sculptures, often representing historical figures. A lot of his work was established in cooperation with his assistant and partner Kees van der Sluis. In 1997, President Bill Clinton revealed a relief made by Verbon in memory of General Marshall during his visit to Rotterdam. After Verbon’s death in 2004, the permanent exhibition ‘Sterke Stad’ was opened on the Müllerpier, Rotterdam, containing work of Verbon and sculptures of artists admired by Verbon.
