Eleven years after the mythical Somerset House's exhibition of London, a reprint of this magnificent book on an improved paper - No pagination - the Jewellery designer Joel Arthur Rosenthal presents 397 of his creations from 1987 to 2002 photographed on black ground by Katharina Faerber - short text in English by Joel Rosenthal on his philosophy of the beautiful and his passion for the jewels - text in English by his 25 years' partner Pierre Jeannet on the Rosenthal's life and art - an hymn to the beauty In 1977, when American-born Joel Arthur Rosenthal set up shop in a passageway leading to Place Vendome, Paris, no one could have imagined that his creations would make a permanent mark in the world of Jewellery. JAR was born. The small firm in Paris employs four people. It has never advertised and has only organised one very private exhibition at the National Academy of Design in New York on November 30, 1987, to celebrate JAR's tenth aniversary. And still, publicity shy Rosenthal and his partner, Pierre Jeannet, had the show last merely three hours. Without marketing campaigns or the backing of a multinational group, jewels by JAR are today sought after by collectors in Europe, Asia and America who are attracted by the design and quality of his pieces. - Sobre artistaMais de um artista trabalhou neste objeto.
