  • Sur l'oeuvre d'art
A symbolist bronze vase with a decoration of bats (chauves souris) flying over a city (Paris). This is the smaller version of a very tall one. This sculptor (born in Germany but of Norwegian nationality), ceramist and glass artist, came to Paris in 1891 and became a pupil of Eugène Carrière. He also exhibited with his bronzes at the Paris World Fair of 1900, where he won a gold medal. The vase has a very nice green patina and is in good condition.
