About the artist
In 1829 Wylie & Lochhead was started by the Scottish cabinetmakers Robert Wylie and William Lochhead. Initially, the firm was established for the purpose of building coffins, but it started to grow very successful. Soon, workshops and furniture showrooms started popping up in Glasgow, Scotland. Wylie & Lockhead became renowned for their designs and levels of craftsmanship, especially during the late Victorian and Edwardian periods. After this, showrooms in England in larger cities like London and Manchester were opened, and they also began selling abroad, like in the America's.
