Henri Jean-Joseph Ubaghs (1852-1937) Portrait of a Balinese model wearing batik and gold bracelets Signed lower right, J. Ubaghs Oil on canvas, 78 x 56 cm Jean Ubaghs was born in Liège where he studied at the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts and later became a professor at the same Académie. On April 8th, 1886, Ubaghs married Clara Marie Albertine L’hoest from Liège. Ubaghs painted this same Indonesian model more often as well as another model from the Orient. He is not known to have travelled outside Europe or even outside Belgium.
Sobre el artista
Jean Ubaghs nació en Lieja, donde estudió en la Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts y luego se convirtió en profesor en la misma Académie. El 8 de abril de 1886, Ubaghs se casó con Clara Marie Albertine L'hoest de Lieja. Ubaghs pintó este mismo modelo indonesio con más frecuencia, así como otro modelo de Oriente. No se sabe que haya viajado fuera de Europa o incluso fuera de Bélgica.
