Sul l'artista
Gillis Rombouts era un pittore e disegnatore paesaggista olandese dell'età dell'oro, nato ad Haarlem nel 1630. Ha prodotto molti paesaggi durante la sua vita, incorporando spesso alberi e foreste in diverse stagioni, a volte accanto a elementi architettonici. I suoi paesaggi possono essere paragonati a quelli di Jacob van Ruisdael e Meindert Hobbema. Rombouts morì nel 1672, lasciando il figlio Salomon a seguire le sue orme.
