Five exhibitions you need to see this JULY
Luckily, not everybody is closed for summer! We highly recommend you to check out the following five gallery exhibitions this month, there's bound to be at least one rainy day that's still not worth spending on a couch at home..

H + O 50 jaar concreet
June 24th – July 7th
This exhibition closes tomorrow, so make sure you drop by the gallery to see what Nel Haringa and Fred Olijve have been producing together for the past 50 years. Their mixed media pieces range from outdoor sculptures to wall-art, to models and photographs of works that have been integrated into existing architecture. We just can’t get enough of these abstract geometrics.

Suspension of disbelief
June 8th – July 22nd
The “suspension of disbelief” is a concept that was invented by the poet and aesthetic Samuel Taylor Coleridge in 1817, referring to the fact that humans can somehow briefly turn off their critical and logical capabilities in order to believe the unbelievable, purely for the sake of enjoyment. Within the field of photography, this could be explored as ‘the willingness of the audience to overlook the limitations of the medium to be truly objective’… The exhibition features works by Laurence Aëgerter, Emily Bates, Marijn Bax, Marjolein Blom, Tanja Engelberts, Anne Geene and Arjan de Nooy, Sarah Mei Herman, Géraldine Jeanjean, Miho Kajioka, Ola Lanko, Bertien van Manen, Antoinette Nausikaä, Satijn Panyigay, Diana Scherer, Carolien Scholtes, Wouter Stelwagen, Maarten van Schaik and Witho Worms.

Sandra Kruisbrink - Arno Sijben - Johannes van Vugt
June 18th – August 26th
During the summer months, Galerie Wilms is showing recent works by Sandra Kruisbrink, Arno Sijben and Johannes van Vugt, which provide an interesting combination between drawings and paintings. Kruisbrink uses various techniques to create almost meditative landscapes, whereas Sijben’s paintings display the fragility of human nature, whilst Van Vugt appeals to our collective memories through using public images.

sun water and boats – Frans Bianchi’s paintings
June 25th – August 28th
Frans Bianchi, a colourist pur sang, was invited to Lamu, Kenya, to paint the scenery there. The compositions of his harbour- and sea scapes arise through colour, balancing on the edge of abstraction. Aside from Kenya, he finds his inspiration in the South of France and The Netherlands.

Summer salon
July 8th – August 28th
A very diverse presentation of paintings and sculptures by Wout Muller, Evert den Hartog, Juane Xue, Gertjan Scholte-Albers, Gerrie Wachtmeester, Sonja Brussen, José van Kleef and Anita Vermeeren you just can’t miss out on! For the ‘empty tables’ series, Chinese artists Juane Xiu drew her inspiration from the French impressionists and German expressionist, mainly because of their sharp use of colour. The empty tables may be described as “moving still-life paintings”, translating unique atmospheres through Xiu’s use of tone and light.

Abstracts
July 15th – August 26th
This is the second time that Galerie BMB is hosting an exhibition by Dirk den Hartog. This international summer exhibition features works by the Dutch artists Armando and Judith Osborn, as well as Petar Tuskan who was born in former Yugoslavia and the German painter Serge Vallberg.
