- Sobre arteBeautiful crystal vase hand painted with enamel, made by Maison Delvaux Paris. The decor, 4 bunches of grapes with golden accents that are connected in a medallion shape by means of winding branches, are shown in 2 colours of blue enamel and gold. The lines and branches are drawn in black enamel and the outline of the clusters is in green. The neck and bottom edge are also accented in green enamel.
The vase is egg-shaped with a conical neck and is also very generous in size and really exudes class and quality.
This vase was painted by hand in Delvaux's workshop. Delvaux employed several artists. The two chief designers were G. Neilz and M. Zillhardt. Presumably Marcel Goupy or G. Neilz is the designer of this vase.
The vase was made in the 1920s.
The vase is signed in gold on the bottom with: "Delvaux, 18 Rue Royal, Paris".
------------
Delvaux Paris was a luxury store that mainly sold applied art by artists such as Clement Massier, Félix Optat-Millet, G. Neiltz, M. Zillhardt, Jean Sala, Charles Schneider, Jean Mayodon and many others.
They let artists design glass and ceramics that they produced in-house. In the 1920s, Delvaux also had its own decoration workshop where artists painted an enamel decor on the glassware by hand.
The better producers such as Maison Haviland, Montigny le Roi, Baccarat, Sèvres and Clichy also liked to produce for Delvaux.
Delvaux Paris regularly exhibited their collection at the Paris Salons and at the famous World Exhibition Arts et Decoratifs in 1925.
Marcel Goupy, a renowned glass artist and decorator, has also designed decors for Delvaux. This decor is also very similar to his style of work.
Sometimes the decors were signed with a monogram. Delvaux glassware was not always signed by the artist himself. It was always signed with 'Delvaux, 18 Rue Royale, Paris', as is also the case here.
Condition:
Very good, on a few grapes the gold has some minimal wearing.
