KunstRAI 2018: preview!
This year the KunstRAI is opening its doors in April instead of June. From 4th April till 8th April 2018, the Kunstrai 34th edition is being held at RAI Amsterdam. The first edition of the KunstRAI was in 1984; this fair the longest running modern and contemporary art fair in the Netherlands but as well one of the eldest in Europe! A fair with 90 high-class galleries that reflect the diversity, quality and pluralism of Dutch art and design.
We have selected some highlights from our partners who attend the KunstRAI.
Gallery Carla Koch
This gallery is specialised in ceramics, but this year she shows as well work of the textile maker Hilde Metz.
Artwork by Hilde Metz at Galerie Carla Koch
Since the mid-1970s Hilde works with the medium textiles as the guiding principle to spatial integration, on the wall or as an independent element. She experiments with the endless possibilities of textiles, now and then, in combination with other materials or shoe creations. Innovative, contemporary materials are to be explored, with the specific qualities they already possess as a starting point in her creative process. She investigates derived techniques. Arranges and above all reduces towards pure simple shapes. Build up a subtle "symbiosis" through mathematic rhythm, dense atmosphere through the use of colour.
This result is a constant dialogue between structure and rhythm by which repetition is to be transported into a very own personal language.

Eduard Planting Gallery Fine Art Photographs
In the stand of Eduard Planting, you will find artworks of the French photographer Sacha Goldberger, who has created a quirky photo series that perfectly expresses the timeless quality of some of our favourite superheroes and villains. One of the most striking things about the “Super Flemish” photo series, is that the portraits are wonderfully made without photoshopping. The heroic look-alike models and villains are perfectly shot in front of the camera. For every superhero or cartoon lover... or Marel or DC fan, a must have!

Galerie Nummer 40
In the stand of Galerie Nummer 40, you will find among other artworks of Freddie Soethout, Rogan Brown, Mo Cornelisse, Olivier Julia, Haringa Olijve, Carl Möller, Michiel Jansen, Kate Brett, Suzanne Hartmans and Klaus Staudt.
Galerie Nummer 40 shows as well the work of Eliza Kopec. Her work is often built up from basic geometric shapes such as squares and circles and translates rhythm, texts and number series into abstract images, for instance, represented by a defined range of colours. June this year Galerie Nummer 40 will open a special exhibition in Doesburg for this artist: Eliza Kopec- (in)visuable beauty. From 10 till 30 June 2018. At KunstRAI you can visit the solo booth with works of this artist. Worth a view!
