Signed and dated 1922 l.l. Biedermeier interior Scheffer was born in Vienna in 1859. He was trained by the painters Griepenkerl, Wurzinger, Leopold Müller and Ferdinand Keller at The Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and Karlsruhe. His works are among others to be found in the collection of the Municipal Museum in Vienna. From 1905 to 1918, he exhibited regularly at the Vienna Künstlerhaus. His most popular paintings were on the theme, "Young Woman in a Biedermeier Interior", of which there are numerous variations. He was a board member of the Albrecht Dürer Association and had his own art school.

Robert Scheffer (6 de mayo de 1859, Viena - 27 de octubre de 1934, Viena) fue un pintor austriaco. Se especializó en paisajes, escenas de género y retratos. También era coleccionista de arte y dirigía una escuela de arte privada.
Estudió de 1879 a 1881 en la Academia de Bellas Artes de Viena, con Christian Griepenkerl, Carl Wurzinger y Leopold Carl Müller. Para 1886, había completado sus estudios en la Academia de Bellas Artes de Karlsruhe, en las clases magistrales de Ferdinand Keller.
De 1905 a 1918 expuso regularmente en la Künstlerhaus de Viena. Sus pinturas más populares fueron sobre el tema "Mujer joven en un interior Biedermeier", de las cuales existen numerosas variaciones.
Se desempeñó como miembro de la junta de la Asociación Albrecht Dürer; de donde recibió la Medalla de Plata de Albrecht Dürer Bunds en 1930. También recibió la Medalla de Plata por Servicios a la República de Austria [ de ] en 1929.
En 1891 abrió una escuela de arte privada; junto con August Schubert (1844-?), que enseñó dibujo, y Carl Haunold [ de ], que enseñó pintura. Muchos artistas conocidos comenzaron como sus alumnos, incluidos John Quincy Adams, Robin Christian Andersen [ de ], Anton Faistauer, Maria Grengg [ de ], Josef Kalous (1887-1974), Anton Peschka, Gustav Schütt (1890-1968) y Fritz. Zerritsch [de]. Después de su muerte, la escuela fue dirigida hasta 1949 por su hija, Gret Kalous, bajo el nombre de "Schule für künstlerisches Modezeichnen" (Escuela de Dibujo Artístico de Moda).
