    This timepiece is signed; MASSON A PARIS, both on the dial as well as on the back.
    Charles Masson, Maître since 1717 worked in the Rue G-l’Asnier from 1768 until 1783 and signed his work with; MASSON A PARIS.

    A rack-striking clock with one bell. Clockwork runs app. 14 days.
    The dial shows the hours in roman as well as arab symbols. The Roman digits represent the hours , the Arab digits indicate every five minutes. The hands are in openwork.

    The round clockwork is housed in a diamond shaped case of ormolu bronze. The base is shaped like a hanging Acanthus. Volutes of Acanthus spread from there along the sides all the way to the top.

    Charles Masson, Maïtre depuis 1717 était un horloger parisien de renom. Il est connu pour avoir travaillé rue G-l’Asnier de 1786 à 1783. Il a signé son œuvre avec «MASSON A PARIS». Parmi ses œuvres, un exemple particulier d'horloge de cartel français, en bronze doré, de style Louis XVI.
