- Over kunstwerksigned
- Over kunstenaarGerhard (Gerrit) Christiaan Haverkamp was born on June 15th, 1872. It is said he was educated at the Felix Meritis School for Drawing in Amsterdam. After his graduation he worked together with lithographer Maurits Willem van der Valk (1857-1935).
In the field of painting he was an autodidact. He most frequently used oil paint and watercolours in his paintings, and he did his drawings in pencil, crayon or ink. Subjects of his preference were mainly landscapes and the architecture of the Netherlands. Another theme of his were churches and church interiors.
Although there exist some portraits of his hand as well, Haverkamp used human and animal figures most often to balance out his depictions of architecture or landscapes. Haverkamp passed away in 1926.
