    Chris Lanooy (1881–1948) was a Dutch artist from Sint-Annaland in the province of Zeeland. He was not only a painter, but also a draughtsman, sculptor, and glass artist. Lanooy received his training at the Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague, where he was taught by, among others, the renowned architect and artist Pierre Cuypers.

    During his lifetime, he lived and worked in Loosduinen, Germany, Gouda, Purmerend, Epe, and Leerdam.

    Lanooy nacque a Sint-Annaland nel 1881 come figlio di Cornelis Lanooij e Janna van 't Hof. Lanooy ha studiato alla Royal Academy of Art, L'Aia ed è stato allievo dell'architetto e artista di Roermond Pierre Cuypers e del pittore e insegnante d'arte Gouda Jan Lugthart. Come ceramista, era un autodidatta.

    Ha lavorato presso fabbriche di ceramica a L'Aia, Gouda e Purmerend e presso la fabbrica di vetro Royal Leerdam Crystal a Leerdam. Il suo lavoro è stato esposto regolarmente in patria e all'estero. Il Museo della ceramica Princessehof a Leeuwarden ha nella collezione più di cento opere di Lanooy. Nel 2002 questo museo gli ha dedicato una mostra retrospettiva. Venticinque anni prima, nel 1977, questo museo gli dedicò anche una mostra. Questa mostra è stata aperta dall'allora ministro della cultura, del tempo libero e del lavoro sociale, Harry van Doorn.

    Lanooy era sposato con Joanna Elisabeth Schuitemaker. Morì nel gennaio 1948 all'età di 66 anni nella provincia di Gelderland a Epe. Nel settembre 2008, la rinnovata sala del consiglio del municipio di Epe è stata ribattezzata Lanooy lounge e conteneva una vetrata di Lanooy.
