Height: 42 cm - A proposito di opere artistaCharles van Wijk (1875, L'Aia – 1917, L'Aia), nome completo Charles Hendrik Marie van Wijk, è stato uno scultore olandese. Ha studiato con Eugène Lacomblé alla Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten (Accademia Reale di Belle Arti), L'Aia, e successivamente a Bruxelles dal 1896 al 1897, ea Parigi. Nel 1902 sposò Anna Maris, figlia del pittore Jacob Maris. Ha vissuto e lavorato a L'Aia e Voorburg. Tra i suoi sudditi c'erano contadini (il Veluwe) e pescatori (Scheveningen e Volendam). Ha lavorato con bronzo e pietra. Era un membro di Arti e Amicitiae, Amsterdam. Van Wijk è stato premiato più volte. Ha realizzato statue di artisti e scrittori famosi: Potgieter (Zwolle), Jacob e Willem Maris (L'Aia), Bilderdijk (Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam). Dopo la sua morte, il progetto di Van Wijk per una statua di Van Oldenbarnevelt fu eseguito da Arend Willem Maurits Odé nel 1920 (Coolsingel, Rotterdam).
