  RICHLY DECORATED MAP OF UTRECHT "TRAIECTUM WTRECHT" Panorama with map of the city of Utrecht, copper engraving, dim. ca. 39,5 x 50,5 cm. Scale 1:5500, with the north at the top left. The map was made for the city book Theatrum urbium Celebriorum totius Belgii siver Germaniae Inferioris (part II), published by Johannes Janssonius in Amsterdam in 1657. THIS map is the 2nd state of the copper plate and was published by the heirs of Johannes Janssonius van Waesberge in Amsterdam in 1682. The engraving was coloured by hand at the time.  To the cartouche with legend on the left, a mythical female figure was added in the 2nd state as decoration and a fine scene of a country house with carriage, horsemen, hunting dogs, etc. and signed Joh. Van den Aveele invenit et fecit. The map image was copied from a map published by Joan Blaeu in 1649 and corresponds to the situation in 1618. The legend with 26 numbers (including the corrupted German toponyms) is taken from yet another map by Matthäus Merian published in Frankfurt. This embellished map was included in the city atlas "Toneel der Vermaarste Koopsteden en Handelplaatsen van de hele Wereld". Literature; Maps of Utrecht, Marijke Donkersloot-de Vrij (Uitg.   •“Modalità di…” A loro avviso un'opera nello stile dell'artista ma di epoca successiva

  •"Dopo …." A loro avviso una copia (di qualsiasi data) di un'opera dell'artista

  •“Firmato…”, “Datato…” o “Iscritto” A loro avviso l'opera è stata firmata/datata/inscritta dall'artista. L'aggiunta di un punto interrogativo indica un elemento di dubbio
