Ekke Kleima (1899, Aduard – 1958, Warffum) was a teacher of mathematics at the HBS (Dutch High School for the 12-18 year age group) in Warffum. He also was a self-taught painter, draughtsman, engraver and etcher, who made landscapes, dune landscapes of the island Texel, winter landscapes, portraits, figures, nudes and wood sculptures. From 1925 to ca. 1950 he was a member of De Ploeg (The Plough). In 1950, Jan van der Zee, Wobbe Alkema, Jan Gerrit Jordens and Ekke Kleima founded a new art society, Het Narrenschip. After Kleima’s death the Groninger Museum organised an exhibition of his works in 1959.
