Over de kunstenaar

Jan Adam Zandleven (1868, Koog aan de Zaan – 1923, Rhenen) was a Dutch self-taught painter. He lived and worked in Koog aan de Zaan, Beverwijk (from 1897), Wijk aan Zee (until 1903), Gorssel (until 1907), Hengelo (until 1912), Putten (until 1918), thereafter in Rhenen. He painted and drew flowers, still lifes, interiors, woodlands, farmhouses with blossoming orchards, etc. At the beginning, he painted in a naturalistic-impressionist manner, later in a pointillist style. Zandleven was a member of Arti et Amicitiae, Amsterdam. Works by his hand are in the collections of the Haags Gemeentemuseum; Dordrechts Museum; Centraal Museum Utrecht; Rijksmuseum Kröller-Müller, Otterlo; Jan Cunen Museum, Oss.
