    This painting shows a typical Dutch river landscape as it can be found in the polders of the province of Utrecht around the river Vecht. Van Rossum du Chatel loved to paint in this region; it inspired him to paint to the extend that critics called him the ‘the painter of the Vecht’.
    He belongs to the second generation of the Hague School.

  • Sobre artista
    A região do rio Vecht em Utrecht inspirou F.J. van Rossum du Chattel a pintar inúmeras impressões, a ponto de os críticos o chamarem de "o pintor do Vecht". Ele também pintou a paisagem ao redor de Haia. Nasceu em Leiden em 1856 e recebeu as primeiras aulas de pintura de seu pai, Jan Hendrik van Rossum du Chattel. Posteriormente, ele frequentou a Teekenschool em Haia e trabalhou para o impressionista de Haia Willem Maris no estúdio deste último. Embora claramente moldado pela Escola de Haia, Van Rossum du Chattel desenvolveria um estilo totalmente individual e reconhecível.
