Hub Pollen

Hub Pollen is a Dutch painter of still lives, born in 1946. He began painting at the age of fifty and initially worked as a self-taught painter. Later on, he took painting lessons in Belgium. He decided to fully focus on painting when he was 55. He describes his work as contemporary Realism and is inspired by the 17th and 18th century still life artists, but also by the contemporary Dutch artists. The interaction between light and dark gives character to his paintings. His technique is based on the classical method and he likes to explore making the paint and varnish himself.
