Jacobus van der Stok (1794-1864) was a Dutch painter and draughtsman. He was born in Leiden and the son of a wigmaker. He married Philippina Rekker in 1823. He became an apprentice painter under Albertus Jacobus Besters in Leiden. He moved to Amsterdam in 1828. Van der Stok mainly painted summer and winter landscapes. His pupils included Matthias Parré, Cornelis Springer and his daughter Jacoba van der Stok. He died in Amsterdam, at the age of 70.
