Willem Hermansz. van Diest (c.1600, The Hague – c.1668, The Hague), was a Dutch Golden Age seascape painter. Willem van Diest was the founder of a dynasty of marine artists spanning three generations. His son and pupil Jeronimus (1631- 1677 or later) in turn trained his own son Adriaen (1655-1704) to become a marine painter. The earliest painting that is known of him dates from 1629. He was a follower of Jan van Goyen and Simon de Vliegher. He died probably in the year 1668 or after that year.
