Sebastião SR Rodrigues (Portugal) is an artist. From the age of eight Sebastião had to work hard, without a father or money for school. But besides his innate perseverance, Sebastião proved to be a natural talent in drawing. He once showed a drawing to a teacher, who told him that he later had to become a painter. Although others did not feel for his choice of painter or draftsman, that did not stop Sebastião from following his own path.
He has been making art for decades, under his stage name SR Rodrigues, and has exhibited in galleries in the United States, Japan, Europe and Brazil. SR Rodrigues lives and works in both Portugal and Brazil. In the moment that SR Rodrigues started painting he discovered his real soul. He is a cartographer of himself. In his paintings, he uses beautiful earthy colors, in combination with different geometric forms, such as circles and rectangles.
SR Rodrigues is always very dedicated to his quest to find the correct structure, the perfect balance and the most beautiful composition. “I want to transfer an emotion through abstraction an interaction with the viewer. My work has a strong soul and I want to create a “wow feeling” in the viewer, says the passionate artist who has an almost addictive relationship with his work. The positive attitude, has an inspiring force on him. “Without optimism, I cannot create anything new.”
