- About the artistKees Bol was a Dutch painter and draftsman, born in Oegstgeest in 1916. Initially he had a career in business but in 1946 he turned to art, studying at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, with amongst others Paul Citroen. He taught at the Design Academy Eindhoven from 1951 to 1972 and at the Art Academy in the Hague from 1963 to 1972. He spent considerable time painting in France. Bol painted landscapes, portraits and still lives. In 1950 he received the Thérèse van Duyl-Schwartze Prize for his portraits. His work is regularly exhibited across museums in the Netherlands.
