Today Brafa Art Fair opens to the public at the Tour et Taxis in Brussels. One of Europe’s leading fairs for art and antiques, Brafa offers a wide selection. Not just in objects but also in price range. Gallerease attended the press opening on Thursday and was blown away by the high quality and stunning objects being showcased by more than 130 gallerists and fine art dealers. Here are 5 reasons why you can’t miss out!

1. Brussels is not that far. From Amsterdam, Brussels is only a 2.5 hour drive, the same or less than Maastricht. Leave early and make it a day-trip. The fair has so much to offer that you will not get bored and even when you’ve seen it all, the fair provides city guides to help you find your way around town. Upon arriving in the city you’ll pass by the cathedral of Laken, the Royal Palace and countless museums. And if you’ve experienced enough culture for one day, Brussels offers great shops, restaurants and wine bars. Pick up your free city guide at the entrance of the fair.

2. Brafa is pure eye candy. The quality is astonishing. From ancient 3rd century Buddhist sculptures to contemporary conceptual art created from the wings of jewel beetles, Brafa offers a broad selection of absolute top-quality art and antiques. It feels like a museum but without the security guards and without the velvet ropes. Experience it all from up close and personal. A jury carefully examines the objects exhibitors brought along to make sure everything is in pristine condition. Oh, and the best thing? It’s all for sale!

3. You don’t have to be an expert. Brafa is accessible to anyone. From qualified professionals to novice collectors, both the organisation and the exhibitors are more than happy to explain the objects they have on display. Don’t mind the lack of prices shown; we’ve seen first-hand that you won’t be judged when you ask. So let your doubts go and indulge yourself in a wealth of art and a wealth of knowledge.

4. Everyone will like Brafa. Brafa offers an eclectic mix that will inspire anyone. You can dream away in front of that €100,000 Bernard Buffet painting, while your children can learn about the CoBrA-style of Pedersen and Appel. The venue itself and the way the art fair is organised are all created to offer you an experience that will stick in your mind and at the same time make you feel 100% at ease with the environment.

5. Brafa is a bargain! Most people think that art at art fairs is overpriced. And sure, sometimes it is. But when we were there, we saw multiple renowned art dealers scanning the fair for a bargain. And actually succeeding! So don’t let the high quality stop you from finding the most beautiful artwork imaginable at a price you can afford.
