Sun, water, and boats in the Netherlands, France and Kenya. Frans Bianchi is a colourist pur sang. With smooth brush strokes filled with intensity, accuracy and velocity, Bianchi creates an intense experience of colours. Landscapes, cityscapes, harbours, water and ships are among his favourite subjects.

Duality is the secret of true art, according to Frans Bianchi. Dualism can be translated into many aspects of a painting, such as its colours or its composition. Duality is the core of Bianchi’s work: contours and lines seem to have been placed on the canvas swiftly, and even though they are put in perspective, they do not determine clear boundaries. His lines dance on top of the canvas, in fragile coherence with one other. The colours form the connecting and binding elements; they create the composition through all of their contrasts and brightness. Bianchi also challenges the boundaries between the abstract and the figurative in order to create a synthesis in his work.

A great number of Bianchi's most recent works will be on display during the summer exposition at Gallery Het Cleyne Huys. He created some of these paintings in Lamu, Kenya, where he was invited to paint for a short while. The exposition runs from June 25th till August 28th 2017.
