About the artist
Hans Goderis was born around 1600 in the Dutch city of Haarlem, and is thus known as a Dutch Golden Age painter. He is first mentioned in the 'Harlemias' book, by Theodorus Schrevelius, which is a poem about the history of Haarlem. Goderis is described as choosing marine painting, along with his contemporary Cornelis Verbeeck. Goderis did indeed paint primarily marine and seascape works.
He passed away around the years 1656-1659.
