Signed on the reverse and dated "21 July 1981" - Over kunstenaarEd Dukkers was a Dutch painter and draughtsman, born in Zandvoort in 1923. He died in Zandvoort in 1996. Dukkers was initially inspired by expressionist art. For example, he participated with Appel, Corneille and Rooskens in the exhibition “Ten young painters” in the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. However, his work gradually became more realistic and Dukkers became inspired by literary and surreal themes. Among his subjects were death, eroticism and rituals. He was specialised in nudes, still lifes and landscapes.
