    Hans Giesen (1942, Kerkrade) is a Dutch painter, draughtsman, collagist, sculptor and sound artist. He paints figures and still lifes. From 1958 to 1962 he attended the Stadsacademie in Maastricht. In 1962 and 1963 he studied at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht. In the period 1963-1965 he followed courses at the famous art institute Ateliers 63 in Haarlem. Giesen studied with Wessel Couzijn, Pieter Defesche and Ger Lataster. He is a versatile artist with diverse interests: from 1970 to 1972 he studied cultural philosophy at the University of Amsterdam. He lives and works in Amsterdam and has also had a studio on the island of Paros (Greece) since 1985. He has had numerous exhibitions, including at Pulchri Studio (2012), The Hague; at Galerie De Compagnie (2016), Dordrecht. Giesen experimented with glass, wooden and iron reliefs. He was the first to produce sound objects, in the Bijlmer/Fleerde. Many of these objects are owned by the government, municipalities or are in private collections (Schunck, Heerlen).
