  • Over kunstwerk
A Dutch stipple-engraved light baluster wine glass by GYRINUS ca. 1765.
The rounded funnel bowl delicately engraved with two cherubs standing,
shaking hands, one with its foot resting on a stone and holding its modesty
drape, the other with his hand on his heart, set on a slender multi knopped
    stem and conical foot.
This elegant and rare glass is recorded by Frans Smit in "Uniquely Dutch 18th
century stipple- engravings on glass". 1993.
The author records two almost identical examples. One is in the Ashmolean
    Museum (Oxford). See Smit ab.47.
The other, ab. 46 is the above.
    Height 18,5 cm.

  • Over kunstenaar
Little is known about this glass engraver. He was active in the 18th century, probably in the Netherlands or England.
