    This beautiful bronze sculpture of a young man training two dogs on a ball is made by the Antwerp sculpture Alphonse van Beurden. He was a pupil of Joseph Geefs and Eduard Dujardin at the Academy of Antwerp. Van Beurden is the designer of the caryatid and allegorical sculptures on the façade of the Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp.
    In the United Kingdom Van Beurden is famous for his ivory sculptures. He exhibited thirteen times (1887-1904) in the Royal Academy of Art with sixteen images in ivory and marble.

    Alphonse van Beurden foi um escultor belga, nascido em Antuérpia em 23 de abril de 1854. Ele morreu em 21 de setembro de 1938. Ele estudou com Joseph Geefs e Eduard Dujardin na academia de arte em Antuérpia. Van Beurden projetou a cariátide e esculturas alegóricas na fachada de o Museu de Belas Artes de Antuérpia.
