This beautiful bronze sculpture of a young man training two dogs on a ball is made by the Antwerp sculpture Alphonse van Beurden. He was a pupil of Joseph Geefs and Eduard Dujardin at the Academy of Antwerp. Van Beurden is the designer of the caryatid and allegorical sculptures on the façade of the Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp.
In the United Kingdom Van Beurden is famous for his ivory sculptures. He exhibited thirteen times (1887-1904) in the Royal Academy of Art with sixteen images in ivory and marble.

He studied under Joseph Geefs and Eduard Dujardin at the art academy in Antwerp.Van Beurden designed the caryatid and allegorical sculptures on the façade of the Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp. In the United Kingdom, he is renowned for his ivory sculptures. Between 1887 and 1904 he exhibited thirteen times at the Royal Academy of Art.
