About the artist

Bernard Aubertin is well known for his monochrome works. For the artist, the red in his works represents fire and blood.

His works have an impersonal and anonymous character. He also has works that are created from so-called fire vents with thousands of matches that are set on fire.

Four years after the founding of ZERO by Heinz Mack and Otto Piene in Düsseldorf, he became a member of this experimental group. In doing so, Aubertin reacted against Art Informel and Neo-Expressionism. He was very interested in creating a new art with international roots and collaborations that would bring new concepts and ideas to life.
