As a young boy, Vincent Cober can be found daily in his mother's jewelry store after school. He admires her entrepreneurship and independence. He also has great admiration for Mr. van Meerten, the goldsmith. He creates the most beautiful jewelery from raw materials. Captivated by this craft, Vincent also decides to make it his profession. His mother tries to change his mind for a while, because she thinks it's too easy a choice, but he knows for sure. Passionate about becoming the best in this noble craftsmanship, Vincent obtains his master's mark before he was 18. In the evenings he starts his own business in 1987 next to his school and learns goldsmithing in practice. He works, among other things, for various Osse jewelers as a repairer until the adventure beckons. Vincent finds work as a goldsmith on Sint Maarten, where the type of goldsmith work is completely different and learns to work with really large diamonds. Due to a special meeting with an Indian jeweler based in Sint Maarten, he travels from the Caribbean to Jaipur (India) and follows a private training in 'gemmology' or 'gemology'. Joseph Jacob teaches him, among other things, how to recognize real gems and rough gems with the naked eye, which is very important in the gem trade. They have been doing business with each other for years and are still in touch almost every day.A golden network
In 1991 Vincent returns to the Netherlands and opens his own shop on the Houtstraat in Oss. A childhood dream come true! Passionate handicrafts in combination with the most beautiful gemstones become his trademark. In the beginning, there were other brands for sale in his shop, but more and more customers asked for his homemade jewelry and watches. From a certain moment he started doing everything himself. From cutting his raw gemstones to designing, making and selling his jewellery. It was possible, because he had not neglected his contacts abroad and in the meantime traveled to many different countries to do his shopping, not always without risk. In India, Vincent had seen that gemstones don't always come to the market without child labor and is determined to do it very differently, doing so by very selectively choosing his suppliers. He calls it his golden network.Additional benefit
An additional advantage is that the lines are so short that the prices are much lower than those at Dutch gemstone traders. Vincent is surprised that they dare to charge so much for their precious stones. If the retail trade still has to earn something from it in this way, the price level will be even higher. How we see jewelry
