The second edition of Sculptures NOW will be taking place at Buitenplaats Sparrendaal once more, following last year’s huge success. During the four-day event, this 18th century castle-site will be hosting over 25 national and international galleries, bringing together a unique selection of modern and contemporary sculptures within a historic setting. Make sure to pay a visit to Galerie Bianca Landgraaf, Guus Röell Fine Art & Antiques, Okker Art Gallery, Pygmalion Fine Art, Galerie Terbeek and Kunstzalen A. Vecht. For more information and tickets, visit www.sculpturefair.nl.

Kunsthandel Studio 2000
Paul Hugo ten Hoopen
Sept 17 – Oct

Paul Hugo ten Hoopen, The Harbour of Nice, 2002.

As a landscape artist, Paul Hugo ten Hoopen (1927) sees every painting as an adventure. Following a very traditional art education, he was delighted to break free and to be able to start painting with “reverie and invention”. In honour of the artist’s 90th birthday, Studio 2000 is exhibiting a large selection of his dreamy watercolour paintings. Alongside these works, Studio 2000 will be featuring the mystical paintings of Janus de Winter (1882-1951).

UNSEEN
Sept 22 – Sept 24

For its sixth edition, the Unseen photo fair will be returning to the Westergasfabriek to showcase the very best of upcoming international contemporary photography talent, never before seen by the public! Don’t miss this chance to find out what’s hot before the rest of the world does… For more information and tickets, visit www.unseenamsterdam.com.

Gallery Terbeek
3 Irish Artists
Sept 23 – Oct 28

Ian Rawnsley, Big Storm, 21st century.

Gallery Terbeek is known for hosting national as well as internationally renowned artists and for the upcoming exhibition, they are set to showcase the talents of three of their Irish artists. Stay tuned for more!

E.J. van Wisselingh & Co.
Painters from Dordrecht
Sept 29 – Oct 15

Adrie Mouthaan, Domburg, 21st Century.

This end-of-summer exhibition will be featuring the work of two famous painters from Dordrecht: Anthonie Pieter Schotel (1890 – 1958) and Adrie Mouthaan (geboren 1940).
Whilst Schotel’s city- and waterscapes may be classified as more traditional, Mouthaan paints in a slightly more abstract fashion. The two painters pose an interesting contrast within the same genre.

Gallery Lieve Hemel
Bernard Verkaaik
Sept 30 – Oct 29

Bernard Verkaaik, Bread and Cheese, 2007.

During the fall season, Bernard Verkaaik’s (1946) melancholic masterpieces are taking center stage at the gallery. His still life oil paintings are so incredibly refined that they become photorealistic, but the Calvinist atmosphere that they exude places them firmly within the Golden Age tradition.
